Photodissociation spectroscopy and dynamics of the HCCO free radical

چکیده
The photodissociation spectroscopy and dynamics of the HCCO radical have been investigated using fast radical beam photofragment translational spectroscopy. An electronic band with origin at 33 424 cm has been identified. This band exhibits rotational resolution near the band origin, but the well-defined rovibronic structure is homogeneously broadened at higher photon energies. Based on the rotational structure this band is assigned to the B̃ P←X̃ A9 transition. Photofragment translational energy and angular distributions were obtained at several excitation energies. At excitation energies close to the origin, the excited, spin-forbidden CH(a S)1CO channel dominates, while the ground state CH(X P)1CO channel is the major channel at higher photon energies. The translational energy distributions provide evidence of competition between intersystem crossing and internal conversion dissociation mechanisms, with some evidence for nonstatistical dynamics in the CH(X P)1CO channel. This work yields an improved heat of formation for HCCO, DHf ,298 0 51.8360.03 eV. © 1997 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~97!00324-3#

Photodissociation dynamics of ethyl ethynyl ether: A new ketenyl radical precursor
The work presented here investigates the dynamics of the photodissociation of ethyl ethynyl ether at 193.3 nm with photofragment translational spectroscopy and laser-induced fluorescence. The data from two crossed laser-molecular beam apparatuses, one with vacuum ultraviolet photoionization detection and one with electron bombardment detection, showed that only cleavage of the C–O bond to form ...
متن کاملUltraviolet photodissociation of the HCCO radical studied by fast radical beam photofragment translational spectroscopy
The ultraviolet photolysis of jet-cooled mass-selected ketenyl radicals has been investigated using the technique of fast radical beam photofragment translational spectroscopy. The C̃P(A9) – X̃ A9 photofragment yield cross section spans 33 400–48 000 cm and exhibits resolved resonances and broad continua. Dissociation produces both ground and excited state CH radicals in association with ground s...

The photodissociation spectroscopy and dynamics resulting from excitation of the B (2)A(")<--X (2)A(") transition of CH(2)CFO have been examined using fast beam photofragment translational spectroscopy. The photofragment yield spectrum reveals vibrationally resolved structure between 29 870 and 38 800 cm(-1), extending approximately 6000 cm(-1) higher in energy than previously reported in a las...
متن کاملMeasurement and theoretical simulation of the HCCOÀ anion photoelectron spectrum
The HCCO radical is of great interest in combustion chemistry because it is a key intermediate in the oxidation of small hydrocarbons such as acetylene. Spectroscopic information has been limited to a handful of experiments, none of which has adequately characterized the Renner–Teller interaction of the two lowest-lying electronic states. In this paper, theory recently developed to describe the...
متن کاملExcited states and photodissociation dynamics of the triiodine radical „I3..
The electronic spectroscopy and photodissociation dynamics of the I3 radical are investigated with two experimental methods. The ground and several low-lying excited states of the I3 radical are characterized by photoelectron spectroscopy of I3 2 at 213 nm. Assignments of these states are discussed with reference to recent calculations. In addition, photodissociation of the I3 radical was inves...
